Im an estranged daughter but im not one-sided, im interested in how parents can see their sides. I actually have a frind who's daughter estranged from her and i can feel related to her problem. Family members can cause huge hurt to each other, it has always been like this but maybe this is the time when we can see it or heal it, if we want to. I believe that everyone has to find their own truth in this story but the healing will come only when this different truths are connected to reality or facts. When lies and gaslightings are involved either the side of parents or the adult children, the trust will go out the window. Working on narcissistic personality disorders is absolutely vital then before starting any conversation.

Yes. Sometimes parents are abusive and unhealthy. However: I’m observing a whole bunch of children pulling this without any discernible reason other than anger their parents weren’t perfect.

I have been enduring the lonely suburbia life for decades and always wanted to leave. I turn 68 soon (no children, not by choice) I have decided to manifest my desire and will spend 6 months in Bali soon. Open one door and see where it leads me 🩷

I am so settled in my ways, I cannot see myself with a man at 57 years old. I like my freedom too much. I'm alone but I'm happy. Men are not worth it. I guess it's because in the past, I've been involved with too many controlling, toxic men. It's absolutely fantastic not to have to deal with it anymore. I'm free and financially independent and debt free. What more could a woman want? It's simply not worth it. Shout out to those who found love, you guys are awesome and very lucky. Being single is not a tragedy, trust me on that one.

Aw it’s so sad, my son married a narcissist who managed to isolate him from his entire family and most of his friends. I feel that was his choice, but I do sent him a note every few years expressing we still love him. I never say anything about his wife.

My son (in his 40’s) is a longtime drug addict, and I no longer have any hope that he will get out of that life. Had to tell him that he cannot stay with us and cannot ask for any more money. The mental and physical strain he has put me through is unbearable. He was a direct cause of a severe automobile accident I had. We helped him with money for years-money that we should have been saving for retirement. He has been to rehab and sober living. We have tried everything we could to help him, plus suggestions from others. We haven’t seen him in three years-the last time I saw him he looked awful and had lost most of his teeth. His brain has changed so much that I don’t believe it will ever return to any semblance of normal. I have no anger; only deep sadness from losing him forever. He is a most wanted and loved child. I am absolutely heartbroken and have found no way to stop this pain. I will always love him.

You mean well but there really is no overall plan for older citizens. Maybe there is no solution. I'm sure many old folks die alone.

i love using Chat GPT when searching for information. It saves a lot of time because I don't have to sift through a ton of ads to get the answers I'm looking for.

Honestly, I found this fairly troubling/ disturbing. If this was put on by a male, it would be gender neutral. A male would never say "men" of "guys", as, it would apply equally to both genders. I guess it speaks to your mindset. Just an observation.

I am using the 4 Step system from Monsia, been using it for years, all natural, vegan and made in the US. The best skin care set I have used.

Divorced women: I divorced him because I just wasn't happy. Also divorced women: I'm not happy. Books. They're called books. And hobbies. And weightlifting/exercise/eating right. And time alone at the library. Nope. Ruin everyone's lives.

I'm a bit apprehensive about AI technology. Alot of times when I ask AI on FB or ask Alexa the answer is either wrong (totally not relevant to my question) or Alexa doesn't know? Frustrates me more than doing a Google search. I do play around on my phone with some fun apps occasionally. I think at 63 I'm kind of past my technology prime but I'm willing to try to adapt because it is going to be necessary. My husband refuses all technology, no computer, no cell phone. He is totally dependent on me. I don't think he even realizes how much I need to be able to use technology just to get by in this world.

I learned in a hort class that white varieties of many flowers have the most scent because they are plain colored and cannot rely on bright colors to attract polinators, so they attract them with scent. Fun fact I thought you'd enjoy.

So many comments from parents and adult children about being alienated from each other. I guess I am blessed with two daughters who love me. My oldest is very busy with her career and family and doesn't have time for me but that's okay. I know she's got a stressful life right now but we are on good terms. I get to see my grandkids several times a week because I live in a cottage on my daughter's property. My other daughter has a disability and is like a child but she's always happy to see me when I visit. I wasn't the best parent but I guess I did okay.

I would like AI to provide a custom wake up alarm that has a pleasing voice and a kind message. Like “Wake up beautiful. It’s going to be a good day.”

What do you do when the estranged child (28 year old daughter) won't leave our house? She treats me like cr@p. Owes us money, doesn't contribute, uses us, but won't leave? My husband is 'soft' on her, won't kick her out. She's a nightmare that won't leave.

There is a definitive difference between being an estranged parent as opposed to an ALIENATED parent. Estrangement has a just cause or reason such as abuse or neglect. ALIENATION has no just cause. It is perpetuated by an ex spouse, caregiver or family member…a pathology of lies.

How awesome! I'm almost 78 and use AI a lot for info on literally everything. I love that I can do it for fun, too. I understand the reluctance of some and wouldn't suggest it to someone who is not computer-literate or comfortable with AI. For me, as a lifelong learner, it's absolutely incredible! If I'm not comfortable with some sites, I go incognito until I know more. Thank you for the encouragement and resources. 😍

Hi Margaret, I havent been seeking out AI apps but they are present in the background and if they haven't already, will soon be used by everyone whether they know it or not. Like you, I was involved in the high tech world for many years. My late husband was one of the original Microsoft employees back in the 70s After he left Microsoft, we started our own small software company. There was talk of AI even back in the early 80s when we met, 40 years ago. AI is here now whether we like it or not. We live in interesting times!
